The Mindset

One to the First Power was first created in 2014 after several years of working in the educational setting and truly seeing the impact that powerful educators had on their learners, families, colleagues, and communities.  

As a teacher, I saw the greatest gains when I poured a piece of myself into my learners and families.  As a district literacy coach, I saw the greatest gains in my 37 teachers when I poured a piece of me into them. As an educational leader, I saw the greatest gains in my schools and communities when I poured a piece of myself into them. I also saw the greatest version of myself and wanted more of that. 

Now, as a higher education Program Chair, I see the greatest gains in my colleagues, students, and faculty when I pour a piece of myself into them.  As a worldwide presenter, I see the greatest gains in my audience members when I pour a piece of me into them.  

And as a mom, I see the greatest growth in my own kids when others pour into them.  

This knowledge made me realize that we all have such a gift, a power per se, to pour a part of ourselves into others to help them reach their fullest potential.  When we are able to do this, we also learn and develop ourselves toward a greater being.
